For translators: What's in it for me?

You will be member of a unique social network portal. You can find your colleagues and build new connections; you can ask for help as well as help your colleagues.
Babelprojekt offers the opportunity to earn money with your language skills by providing professional translation and interpretation and other translation related services.
Your profile will be listed if a user is searching in our database.
As a translation service provider in our database, you will be alerted automatically when translation projects are posted that fit your skills.
You can easily follow up your projects and give quotes by using our project-management system.

For translators: Why do I have to specify my profile in detail?

By detailing your language pairs, the appropriate qualifications and specializations you can get the most suitable assignments and make it easier for outsourcers to find you. It is in the interests of both the clients and the service providers to include as much detail in your personal profile as possible. You receive automatic notifications about uploaded jobs and questions from freelancers which include your specialization and language pairs. Providing further personal details such as schools will help in building your network.

For translators: What should I do, if I received a request for quote?

If you cannot take an assignment or send a quote Reject the request.
Before answering, check the deadline for sending the quote. Then check all the details (count of norm-lines, language, etc.) and if there is any misunderstanding or mistake Reject the request and ask for a correction.
If you Send a quote, make sure you can start the work if you get the assignment. Your potential client will hire you with the conditions agreed in the request. If you get the assignment after having sent your quote, you can start working; the project will be imported into the project management system. There is no need for further feedback.
If your quote is rejected by the PM, don’t worry, maybe it works out next time!

For translators: How to take an assignment?

If you haven’t sent a quote for the work, read the assignment carefully. Please check all details before you start (word count, language pair, price, deadlines, and so on). If there is any misunderstanding or mistake Reject the assignment and request a new one.
If you take on a project you are committed to deadlines.

For translators: What to do, if I get too many assignments?

The translation industry is competitive so sometimes you may be working only on one project while at other times you could accept 3-4 projects at once. Many translators take on too many projects in their excitement to gain experience and grow their portfolio. Problems start when clients expect quality work on short deadlines. You may be pressured into submitting work for which you did not have enough time to review carefully. Clients may consider hiring you for more work if you perform well. You may lose the control and overview of parallel running project. Make sure you don’t take on too many assignments and you do your best work. Juggling an overwhelming number of projects can, in the long run, make your career stressful, less profitable and less stable.
